Today we headed out to Karumba. It is the only place where you can drive down to the beach on the Gulf of Carpentaria. On the way we passed a large herd of wild horses which had Terry so mesmerised that he nearly ran off the road. We found a nice park to have lunch then went for a drive around town. There are two boat ramps and we have never seen so many parked boat trailers before. Seems like you only stay in Karumba if you have a “tinny”. There are several caravan parks in town but all seemed full and packed in like sardines. We bought 1kg of prawns freshly caught and cooked this morning for tea and then found a spot on the beach to watch the sunset.
Driving back to Normanton we saw many wallabies at the side of the road. The prawns were good!

did you catch any fish there?
Nah, that was just a prop for the photo shot
